Katy Perry�s lesbian predicament has earned her #1in the Australian charts for the 6th week in a row, something no other song has established in 2008, but or else of congratulations for her achievements, her mother thinks she is going to burn in hell.

Mary Hudson, the mother of the 23-year-old singer from the US, is outraged by 'I Kissed A Girl' � the hit song that has seen Katy rise to an overnight success.

Hudson, an evangelical Christian preacher, has expressed her disappointment in her daughter for �promoting a sin�, and thinks the attention-getting pop-tune is �shameful and disgusting�.

"I hatred the song. It clearly promotes queerness and its message is shameful and disgusting. Katy knows how I feel. We ar a identical outspoken family unit and she knows how disappointed her father and I ar. I can't even listen to that song.

"The number one time I heard it I was in total shock. When it comes on the radio I bow my head and pray," Hudson said.

She also strongly opposes the life style Katy is leading ascribable to her newfound fame.

"Katy is our daughter and we love her simply we strongly disagree with how she is conducting herself at the moment. We cannot cut her out of our lives as she is our child - but she knows we disagree strongly with what she is doing and the message she is promoting regarding homosexuality which the Bible clearly states is a sin."

Patrick Swayze back at work, Paul Newman forced to quit

Paul Newman reportedly has lung cancer.

The Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid actor has been suffering from the potentially fatal disease for several months and just weeks ago had to pull out of directing a big-screen adaptation of John Steinbeck's book Of Mice and Men.

A friend of the actor - who used to be a chain-smoker - told the National Enquirer magazine: "We have known he is seriously ill for several weeks but his loved ones are being very protective and saying very little."

The legendary actor was reportedly diagnosed with the cancer at the New York's Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, a few hours drive from his Connecticut home, where he lives with his wife Joanne Woodward.

In March, a cancer patient claimed he had regularly seen Newman at the hospital.

He said: "He's been there a lot, he's even worked out in the waiting room, doing the squat thrusts. Last time, he was in there he had a long beard. Joanne is there waiting for him and being very sweet with the assistants."

However, his spokesperson played down his hospitalisation, saying Newman was "being treated for athlete's foot and hair loss".

Newman has previously denied reports he has cancer.

Meanwhile, Patrick Swayze, who announced in March he is battling pancreatic cancer, is returning to work.

The 55-year-old actor will play FBI agent Charles Baker in 13 episodes of hit US TV show The Beast.

In a statement, Swayze said: "I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this multi-layered, unpredictable and downright entertaining, as well as a project this current and cutting edged."

Bob DeBitetto, executive vice-president and general manager of A&E network, makers of The Beast, added: "Obviously, we've had candid conversations with him and his doctors, and we have a fairly high degree of expectation that Patrick will be good to work a full production schedule."

Swayze starred in a pilot episode of the program in January before announcing his illness, but is now hoping to complete the full 13-episode series.

In The Beast, Swayze's character teaches his rookie partner his unorthodox crime-fighting methods while secretly being investigated by an Internal Affairs team.

Australian actor and former Tarzan star Travis Fimmel will play Swayze's partner Ellis Dove. Filming is set to begin in Chicago this August.

Latest: The owner of the Chateau Miraval wine estate in Provence, France has confirmed Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have rented out the exclusive retreat for the summer . The news fuels speculation that Jolie plans to give birth to her twins in Provence in August to honour her late mother Marcheline Bertrand's family, who hailed from the region. Miraval owner Tom Bove tells Bloomberg News that the couple contacted him weeks ago, admitting they "dropped out of the sky." He adds, "They're personally very nice. Brad is from the Midwest, as I am." The vineyard and the Miraval wines it produces have become world famous thanks to the Bove family's attempts to improve the crop with the help of organic cultivation. The estate also features a recording studio that has been used by Sting and Pink Floyd, who recorded pparts of their The Wall album there. Pitt and Jolie's decision to use the estate as a retreat this summer has given Miraval's wines a huge boost. Retailers can't get enough of the winery's reds, whites and roses, with one of Miraval's leading U.S. importers, Monarchia Matt International, reporting cases and bottles are "nearly gone".
